CORE VALUES OF EWC LEADERS
Respect. We express high regard for others; accept the basic worth of people regardless of their social status, income levels, contributions to the church, or friendship networks; recognize the value of those who hold difficult offices of ministry; communicate grievances and questions to the persons involved, rather than resorting to gossip or behind-the-back discussions.
Loyalty. We fully support decisions of church leadership, even if disagreement exists; provide communication of legitimate disagreements with the appropriate parties in a private setting; do not berate or backbite others; do not personally attack others; do not speak negatively of others unless the person being spoken of is present and is provided an opportunity to address the topic of disagreement.
Teamwork. We emphasize cooperation with other staff to ensure the success of the whole ministry team; make recommendations and decisions that reflect thorough consideration of their impact to other church ministries.
Integrity. We adhere to a code of sincerity, honesty, and frankness; words said and actions taken are in agreement with each other; not hypocritical; take the "high road" in legal, moral, and ethical affairs.
Relations and Reconciliation. We pursue healthy relationships with other leaders; follow principles of Matthew 18 in intra-leader relations; seek forgiveness when discovering offense has been given to others; provide gracious forgiveness in the context of complete reconciliation.
Positive Attitude. We exercise a genuine, positive spirit toward people and tasks, even in the light of difficult circumstances and decisions; accept undesirable assignments with the goal of successful completion; do not display a bad attitude, pout, or cause dissension.
High Communication. We communicate freely with supervisor, subordinates, and peers; provide clear feedback to staff if communications are unclear or incomplete; follow-up on prior communications to ensure the completion of all related actions; proactively report to staff significant changes in conditions which impact the successful completion of tasks and projects; provide direct communication in staff meetings which may assist in resolving issues or addressing other important considerations.
Spiritual Growth. We practice good habits of spiritual development, including Bible study and regular devotional prayers; can describe recent elements of personal spiritual growth; embrace the discomfort of spiritual growth as a necessary part of spiritual development.
