 Ripple Effect Testimonies
Here's a chance to share some stories of kindness..

Here is my ripple effect story. Well, one day my sister and I got back from a sleepover and my sister came home later than me but we had her luggage. So we took it out of our car and set it inside of the house. Then I decided that I would take her luggage up to her room for her without being asked. Then I laid my card on her suitcase.

Well, you said you wanted to hear stories of kindness last Wednesday. Well here's one, or two. Mostly, during the week, I just did small chores that I didn't have to. No, I didn't do anything that involved strangers. But
here's two stories. Well, my older sister made this craft that included putting beads onto little pegs on a board. She made one shaped like a flower, and she made it in my room. I told her that if she didn't get it out of my room I would step on it. She didn't move it. So one night, I was walking in my room. It was dark, and the only light was the fish light. I accidently tripped over her beads. The whole thing spilled! At first I thought that I should go rub it in her face since I told her that I was going to kick it over if she didn't move it. But then I thought "kindness," so I redid the whole thing for her!

And one day, I devised a plan. I thought that I would give my mom a breakfast! So I woke up (early in the morning for me), wrote a poem, made her bed, and put the poem on the bed. Then I went downstairs, poured her her usual breakfast of cereal. I couldn't pour her coffee, because I didn't know how she prepared it. I then washed an apple and put it on a tray with a glass of water and the cereal. I decorated the tray with some fake flowers from her room. I then waited in my room for her to finish her shower, and find the poem. After she found the poem, she came and found me! We had breakfast together, and I ended up pouring her coffee for her, while she showed me how she liked it. She loved it! And even though I was kinda tired, we both had fun.

I had fun, and it meant a lot to the person I did the kindness for. It felt good to both of us, and that's what it's about!

(A letter written for a class project by a student referring to "Jonathan")

You know that feeling that you get when you first meet someone and you know that you're going to be good friends?  Well, that is what it was like when I met my best friend, Jonathan.  I want's sure what to expect.  My friend, Denesha, introduced me to him about three or four years ago at the library.  She told me one of those people that you have to get to know.  He's very different from anyone I know.  He has taught me a lot of important things.  Thinks like to show my true colors and not be afraid to stand out.  Make everyday count because you never know if it will be your last.

My freshman year I was having trouble standing out and finding myself.  I was in a position where I didn't really know who I was or what I wanted to do with my life.  I was dealing with problems at home and other issues.  Jonathan was there and helped me the whole way.  There was the tiem that I wanted to go out for the play and I was scared that I would mess up.  Jonathan told me to go for it.  He said that I'd never know if I dont' try.  There was also a time that these kids were messing with me because I act different.  He told me to ignore them and move on.  I had a lot of things going on and the last thing I needed was to have people messing with me.  Jonathan doesn't really care what people think o fhim.  I fhe does then he doesn't show it.  I can go to him for anything and I know I can count on him.

"Hey, I met this guy and I want your opition.  His name is ____________ and he is a senior", I said.

"Okay.  When do you want me to meet him?" he replied.

"I don't know...maybe after school tomorrow."

"Sounds good to me."

"Jonathan is someone I would trust with my secrets because I know I can count on him.  When I have a problem, I go to Jonathan because he will not judge me harshly or make fun of me.  He will always be someone that I trust.  Jonathan will do everything that he can to make sure that I'm going to be okay.  He is a great friend and he is a great guy.  He doesn't judge people the way others do.  He looks for more than just status.  He judges you on your character, no on whether you are popular or have a lot of money.  He tries to see the best in everyone, but sometimes it's his weakness.

Jonathan is a very unique charater.  We will be sitting at hte table at lunch and someone will walk past that we dont' know.  Jonathan will start waving at them and say hi.  It doesn't matter if he knows htem or not.  JOnathan will wave to them.  He also will do anythign to turn someon's bad day into a good day.  If we are mad or stressed about something, he will try to make us laugh.  No matter how bad our day is going, Jonathan will try to make it bettter.  He will make you happy even when things are not okay.  He will always be the rainbow after a storm.  He will be the hand that picks you up when you are down.

Jonathan is one of my best friends and we would do anything that we could for each other.  He can come to me and I can go to him.  He has taught me so much.  To just be yourself and dont' be afriad to be different.  He has taught me that weird is a wordmade up by those who don't understand those who are different.  He has made it his point to be different and to stand out.  Don't let people tell you that you can't do something or be something because you are different.  Don't let them push you around.  Fight for what you think is right no matter what others think or say.  Do what you think is right even when it may seem wrong.  I found a quote in a movie that describes Jonathan very well, "How do you document real life when real life's getting more like fiction each day," -Mark RENT.  Jonathan takes everyday one step at a time and does what I'll never be able to do or understand.  He lives for the moment and I try, but can't seem to.

Jonathan is one of the most unique, interesting, creative, sweet, funny, and inspiring peroson I've ever met.  I hope that I can learn more from him.  He is a great person.  Everyoen should have a friend like him, we could all use one.  Someone who is there after the storm and will be there to help you when you're down.  Someone who never judges and who you can tell everything to.  My life changed the day I met Jonathan, and it has never been the same since.  He has changed my whole life for the better.
